Behavior

Students who make choices that negatively affect themselves or others will move through the following levels tracked using their lunch magnets:

  1. Verbal Warning. The student is privately warned to correct the behavior.
  2. Yellow: Visual Warning. The student will move their lunch magnet to the yellow area of the whiteboard.
  3. Orange: Separation. The student will be removed from their group to work at a wooden tray for the remainder of the half day.
  4. Red: Consequence. The student will lose their lunch recess, will make a phone call home, and will complete a Classroom Code.

Choices are held to the standard of the High Fives: respect, responsibility, kindness, honesty and courage. Visit the Class Rules page for more information.

Notes

  • The next offense after red will result in the student being referred to the office.
  • Students can move to previous colors if they make a noticable improvement in their behavior and ask for their magnet to be moved.
  • This procedure works fine for about 85% of the class. For students who repeatedly move their magnet, a customized Behavior Plan will be developed.
